Established in 1997 as a centre of excellence at all levels in the field of pharmaceutical sciences, the School of Pharmacy located in the Amrita campus in Kochi, Kerala, India, makes it ideally situated to offer excellent infrastructure for training and research in clinical pharmacy. The goal of the pharmacy School is not only to excel in the field of education but also to conduct social and charitable outreach programs. The School of pharmacy seeks to bridge the ever-widening gap between modern pharmaceuticals and traditional drug systems. Towards this end our School of pharmacy plans to train herbal pharmacists to work on traditional formulations in collaboration with traditional practitioners, devising methods of cultivation, standardization, and scientific explanation of the process. The Amrita School of Pharmacy also has programmes for phytochemists to do research on isolation of molecules of herbal drugs as part of pharmacological studies, with phased clinical trials.
