| An average of 3-4 operations are performed for children with congenital heart disease at AIMS every day. To date over 3500 operations have been performed with an overall mortality of ~3-4%. The open heart procedures include closure of atrial and ventricular septal defects, repair of tetralogy of Fallot, repair of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection, arterial switch operation, the Senning operation, the Fontan procedure (including the extra-cardiac Fontan operation), the Glenn procedure, repair of common AV canal defects, the Rastelli operation, the Cross operation, single stage unifocalization ALCAPA repairs and, double switch procedures. |
