We are actively involved in academics at PG and PhD level and a number of research projects are being carried out.
The following are the ongoing projects at Metabolic Disorders Laboratory.
- "Mass screening program for inborn errors of metabolism" Funded by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE).
- "How common is essential amino acids, micronutrient deficiency in tropical pancreatitis" Funded by KSCSTE.
- "Role of medium chain fatty acids of coconut oil in atherosclerosis" KSCSTE.
- "Clinical, biochemical and molecular profiling of organic acidurias" ICMR
- "Impact of Coconut Oil as a cooking medium on cardiovascular risk factors and
clinical outcomes in patients with CAD receiving standard medical care: A randomized case controlled study with polyunsaturated sunflower oil" - Coconut Development Board.
- MSc projects About 15 MSc projects from outside universities and 5 MSc projects from Amrita Viswa Vidya Peetham (of 3-6 months´ duration) have already been completed.
- ICMR STS fellowships 2 MBBS students have completed Short term student fellowships under this scheme.
- The laboratory has very keen interest in developing new research projects and
guiding under-graduates, post-graduates, DNB scholars, MD/DM and PhD students alike in research programs.
