Automated blood culture system Automated AFB culture was started in March 2008 .We have analysed the results obtained in 1 year and as expected, the results are significant in early detection and rate of isolation. Mean detection time for automated culture was 18days, whereas for conventional method it was 34days which is nearly double the time.
With the advantage of early detection and better recovery rate, it is advisable to opt for automated culture rather than conventional culture. All are requested to utilize this facility for better patient management.
