The Department of Psychiatry and Behavior Medicine at AIMS was established in 2003. We evaluate our patients in detail from psychiatric and behavioral perspectives. All types of psychotic, neurotic, organic, psychiatric and dual diagnosis disorders are treated. Patients with childhood behavior disorders, addiction disorders and old age disorders are also treated.

Dr. P. C. Kesavankutty Nayar, MD, DPM
Clinical Professor and Head

Dr. Nayar completed his postgraduation from Medical College, Calicut. Before joining AIMS, he worked as Professor of Psychiatry, Medical Superindendant, and Principal at Medical College, Trivandrum. He was a member of Kerala Public Service Commission. He was the President (Acting) in Medical Council of India. His areas of interest are de-addiction and general psychiatry.

Dr. K. Sreekumar, MD, DPM
Clinical Professor

Dr. Sreekumar joined AIMS in 2006. He completed his postgraduation from Medical College, Calicut. He has been offering his service in this field since 1990 and has worked in Medical Colleges of Trivandrum, Alappuzha, Kollam and Calicut. He has a working experience of 23 years and his special areas of interest are deaddiction and child psychiatry.

Dr. N. Dinesh, MD, DPM
Clinical Professor

Dr. Dinesh did his undergraduation from Calicut Medical College, DPM from B.J.Medical College, Ahemadabad, Gujarat and MD from Govt. Medical College, Baroda, Baroda University. Before joining AIMS, he worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist and DipN.B. Faculty in Medical Trust Hospital Kochi, as Consultant Psychiatrist in Ernakulam Medical Centre, Palarivattom. He is offering his services in AIMS since 2003 and his areas of interest are general adult psychiatry, deaddiction, consultation liason psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry.

Dr. Bindu Menon, MD, DNB
Clinical Assistant Professor

Dr.Bindu Menon completed her postgraduation from G.S.Medical College, Mumbai in 1996 and has extensive clinical experience. She is actively involved in most of the research projects of the department. The Community Psychiatric Clinic, the Psychoeducation group and Alcohol Group were initiated and carried out under her supervision. Her special interests are community psychiatry and neuropsychiatry.

Dr. Praveen Arathil, DPM, DNB
Clinical Assistant Professor

Dr.Praveen Arathil joined AIMS in 2010. Earlier, he worked as a senior resident at KMC, Manipal.  His areas of interests are general psychiatry and child psychiatry.
