The Analytical Toxicology department is part of the WHO-recognized Poison Control Centre, and offers unique facilities in the area of toxicology (poisons and poisoning) to all hospitals, government doctors, and private practitioners of Kerala state and neighbouring regions. It is fully equipped with instruments such as UV-Spectrophotometer, High Pressure Liquid Chromatograph, etc. This is the first time that such a department has been started in a hospital in the entire state of Kerala, and has been recognized by the World Health Organization as one of four functioning Poison Centres in India. The Department of Analytical Toxicolgy has also obtained membership to the prestigious American Academy of Clinical Toxicology.

| In June 2004, a new national level Society was begun by the department – The Indian Society of Toxicology – which has a composite membership of professionals drawn from varied fields who are engaged in the research or practice of toxicology. The Society organizes scientific conferences, symposia, workshops, etc across India regularly. The Society also brings forth a quarterly journal dedicated to toxicology – Journal of the Indian Society of Toxicology. |
