Theme: “Key Performing Indicators in delivering quality patient care”

To consistently deliver superior clinical quality and value, health care organizations must ensure that their strategy and structure are well organized and coordinated. Organizations that succeed will be able to deliver superior clinical care and outcomes and will have market advantage in brand reputation and operational efficiency. Success requires effective leadership, recognition and appreciation of human elements, reliable support system and patient centric care.

Health care in India had been highly unorganized and unregulated. Most of the health care needs were being provided by quacks, family physicians, and nursing homes. If the disease process was unmanageable, the patients were brought to district hospital or to the government medical colleges. A very structured training programme for medical and para clinical staff, used to happen only in medical and related colleges.
When the world has been talking about the overall development and robust economy of India, things in health care arena also has improved by leaps and bounds, both in medical education and delivery of patient care. Quality is the budge word today, which used to a theoretical cliché’ and used very loosely, for the matter of convenience. With the advent of National accreditation prog, NABH and few corporate going in for international accreditation, delivery of quality patient care & issues related to patient safety, has become a household concern. All good running institution is striving for defect free care over time for a patient – has evolved from high-risk industries and is gaining traction in healthcare. Many health care systems have adopted improvement methods like Toyota Lean, ISO, Kaizen or Six Sigma, which allow frontline experts to contribute to process improvement and elimination of waste. The organization takes a quantum leap in quality and safety – and are realizing substantial operational efficiencies – have embedded these techniques within their culture. The quality driven organization relentlessly focuses on how to improve, rather than applying a solution and declaring victory.
