Following the example of Amma, with her tireless efforts on behalf of the poor, many individuals have decided to devote some time every month to making a difference. Their activities will be highlighted on this page. If you know of such a person, please feel free to send in their story.

After Mark Watson sponsored a child for heart surgery at AIMS, he realized how affordable it is for one person to save a child's life. He was inspired to create an organization called Hearts Across the Ocean, which allows children in his area of New Jersey, USA, to hold fundraisers and donate to help children in India. Here is what Philip, age 7: had to say:

"I gave all my saved allowance, $100.00, because my mom told me that someone in Indian was very sick and needed a new heart to live. I realized that this was more important than me wanting a new Playstation game from Toys R Us."

Almost 30 children have now been sponsored for heart operations at AIMS through Mark's organization! You can visit Mark's website at www.heartsacrosstheocean.com. (Though Mark admits he's an amateur at web design, he says that this just shows what anyone can do!)
